George Michael "Mike" Martin is a senior electric utility executive with deep experience advancing energy based safety (EBS) and serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention across large, complex electric distribution operations. He serves as Vice President of Distribution Operations at ComEd, with accountability for field execution, work planning, and operational risk management supporting safe and reliable electric service.Martin’s career spans frontline construction and maintenance through executive leadership roles in Electric Operations, Safety, Training, Methods, and Reliability Engineering. He has led enterprise and regional initiatives focused on identifying high energy hazards, strengthening critical risk controls, and improving the consistent application of safety rules at the point of work. His focus emphasizes integration of energy isolation, hazard recognition, pre job planning, and field verification into training, supervision, and daily execution.Martin applies a systems based safety approach aligned with EEI EBS principles, reinforcing learning, accountability, and labor management collaboration to reduce SIF potential and continuously improve electrical work practices. He holds an MBA from Northern Illinois University and a BA in Physics from Illinois Wesleyan University.
